Fusion’s New Creative Paint

If you love the quality and reliability of Fusion Mineral Paint but wish it offered more freedom for layering, blending, ombré effects, and distressing, meet Alchemy — Fusion’s brand‑new paint designed specifically for artistic expression.

What makes Alchemy different?
Alchemy is built from three powerhouse ingredients:

Acrylic Resin — the “A” in Alchemy, taken straight from Fusion’s premium formula. It delivers exceptional adhesion and long‑term performance so your creations stand the test of time.

Limestone — the “L,” inspired by Fusion Milk Paint, adding strength and durability.

Chalk — the “C,” giving Alchemy its beautifully flat finish and the blendability, flexibility, and easy distressing that chalk‑paint lovers adore.

Why artists and upcyclers will love it
Stronger than traditional chalk paints thanks to Fusion’s high‑quality resin.

Deep, rich pigmentation for vibrant colours with impressive depth.

Smooth, forgiving application with minimal brush marks — ideal for beginners and pros alike.

More creative flexibility than Fusion Mineral Paint, making it perfect for blending, distressing, and layering.

Customisable finishes — slightly more porous than Fusion, so a topcoat is recommended for high‑traffic areas but optional elsewhere.

Waxes glide on effortlessly, making finishing work easier than ever.

  • ALChemy: Acrylic, Limestone, Chalk
  • Water-based paint
  • Flat chalk-like finish
  • Excellent adhesion on most properly prepared surfaces
  • Forgiving, smooth, brush-friendly application
  • Good durability
  • Easily distressed
  • Layer, blend, and create artistic finishes
  • 24 colours
  • 500ml covers approx. 75 sq. ft., about the size of a large dresser
  • 120ml covers approx. 18 sq. ft., perfect for small projects or accents
  • Dry time: 30 minutes - 2 hours
  • Recoat time: 2 hours
  • Cure time: 21 days
  • Shelf life: 7 years

Clean the surface thoroughly to remove any dust, grease, or residue.

Apply 1–2 coats of Alchemy, allowing each layer to dry fully before adding the next. Highly pigmented or vibrant colours may require additional coats for complete coverage.

For natural texture, soft transitions, and effortless blending, use a natural‑bristle brush, which enhances Alchemy’s artistic qualities

A protective topcoat is recommended on surfaces exposed to water or heavy use to help prevent marking.

Tough Coat — ideal for high‑traffic areas where you want a smooth, durable finish

Furniture Wax or tinted waxes — perfect for adding a soft sheen and enhancing depth and dimension

For decorative pieces, you can leave Alchemy bare to preserve its beautifully ultra‑flat finish.

For outdoor projects, always seal with a waterproof exterior topcoat to ensure long‑lasting protection.

What is Alchemy, and how does it differ from Fusion Mineral Paint?
Alchemy is a true chalk‑style furniture paint made from a blend of acrylic, limestone, and chalk, giving it an ultra‑flat, velvety finish that can be left matte or sealed for added durability.
Fusion Mineral Paint, by contrast, contains a built‑in self‑sealing acrylic resin, creating a low‑sheen, wipe‑clean surface without the need for a topcoat.

Which surfaces can I paint, and do I need to sand or prime?
Most sound, wax‑free surfaces only need a thorough clean and a light scuff‑sand.
Use Fusion Ultra Grip on very slick substrates such as glass, laminates, or thermofoil to improve adhesion.
For bare wood—especially when using light colours—apply a stain‑blocking primer like Zinsser BIN to prevent tannin bleed‑through.

How much paint will I need?
500ml (pint) covers approximately 7 m² / 75 sq ft — enough for a large dresser.

120ml (tester size) covers around 2 m² / 18 sq ft — ideal for chairs, side tables, or accent details.

How long does Alchemy take to dry and cure?
Alchemy dries to the touch in 30–60 minutes and is ready for a second coat after about 2 hours.
It fully cures in 21 days, so treat freshly painted pieces gently during this period.

Do I need to seal or wax Alchemy?
You can leave the ultra‑matte finish bare for a soft, vintage look.
For areas exposed to water, heat, or heavy use, apply:

Tough Coat
Ultra Guard
Furniture Wax or tinted waxes

Is Alchemy safe for indoor use?

Yes. It’s a water‑based, low‑VOC paint with minimal odour, making it ideal for indoor projects and winter painting.

Can I distress, layer, or blend colours?

Absolutely. Alchemy’s slightly thicker, highly pigmented formula:
Sands back beautifully
Blends smoothly for ombré effects
Responds well to damp‑cloth distressing
Try techniques like layering or blending.

Can I spray Alchemy?
Alchemy is designed for hands‑on application. Spraying atomises the paint into breathable particles, so it’s not recommended for health and safety reasons.

Can I mix Alchemy colours?
Yes! All shades can be mixed to create custom colours and expand the 24‑colour palette.

Can I use decor transfers, decoupage, or stencils on top?
Definitely. Once the paint is dry, apply your transfer, stencil, or decoupage, then seal if extra protection is needed.
For transfers, follow the manufacturer’s instructions for best results.

Dark ultra‑matte colours show fingerprints — how do I prevent this?
Deep shades like Onyx naturally show light marks. A quick wipe usually removes them, or you can apply a matte Tough Coat or Ultra Guard to maintain the depth of colour while reducing marking.

Is Alchemy suitable for outdoor furniture?
Alchemy is formulated for interior use.
For outdoor projects, choose Fusion Mineral Paint or apply a suitable exterior‑rated sealer over Alchemy.

Can I paint kitchens or floors with Alchemy?
For high‑wear areas such as kitchens and floors, Fusion Mineral Paint is generally the better choice.
If you prefer Alchemy’s rustic, chalk‑style look, you must finish it with a durable topcoat like Tough Coat or Ultra Guard.
