Brush Care Tips:

To ensure long-lasting performance from your Staalmeester® brushes, always clean them thoroughly after each use.

For water-based paints (like Fusion™ Mineral Paint or milk paint): Start with a quick rinse, then let the brush soak in water—just up to the ferrule—for at least 30 minutes. This loosens dried paint, making it easy to rinse clean.

Finish the cleaning with a small amount of Fusion™ Brush Cleaner to remove any residue and condition the bristles—especially important for natural fiber brushes.

For oil-based products (such as waxes or Stain & Finishing Oil): Begin by cleaning the brush with odorless mineral spirits.

Quick Tip

Wrap brushes in plastic, cover with a damp cloth, or leave them standing in water (up to the ferrule) until you can clean them properly.

TIP: All brushes, no matter the price and quality, lose bristles when new. As soon as you unwrap your new brush, hold it firmly and pull on the bristles a few times to coax any loose hairs out. Then use Use Brush Soap to clean your brush well. Let dry and paint away!
